You live somewhere that doesn't make the headlines. But you notice things that should.

The shift in how people your age spend their weekends. The new business that opened on a street that used to be empty. The way your city is changing in ways that nobody outside seems to know about yet.

We want to hear from you.

Mandarin Unpeeled is a China business and destination intelligence platform read by professionals, travelers, and decision-makers around the world.

The most interesting stories about China not only live in the media headlines — they're coming from where you are.

We're building a network of on-the-ground Fellows to help us tell them.

Is this for you?

We're looking for two kinds of candidates:

• If you live in a tier-3 city or smaller — You don't need to be a professional writer. You need curiosity, a sharp eye, and something worth saying about the place you know better than anyone else. We'll help with the rest.
• If you're a university student or recent graduate — You can write in English — not perfectly, but confidently. You're interested in how your world looks from the outside, and you want to be part of telling that story to a global audience.

Both streams are open regardless of age (unless a specific edition states otherwise). We also welcome institutions — universities, community organizations, and local media — who want to nominate or partner with us to develop emerging voices in their communities.

What you'll get

• Your work published on Mandarin Unpeeled, under your name
• Active promotion beyond our platform — to our media, professional, and travel network
• Direct editorial mentorship from our founder: on writing, storytelling, and how to pitch your work to international publications
• An editorial honorarium of USD $150–400 per accepted piece, depending on the edition and format

This isn't an internship. Your contribution is credited, promoted, and paid.

What happens next

Each fellowship edition has a specific theme and brief — announced to registered Fellows ahead of each cycle. You won't be applying blind.

你发现身边的人们，花钱的方式不一样了；你看到那条一直冷冷清清的街，最近悄悄开了几家有意思的小店；你感觉到生活的这座城市，正在慢慢变得不一样……

我们想让世界听听你讲这些故事。

Mandarin Unpeeled 是一个关注中国与中国旅游内容的英文资讯平台。我们的读者里，有对中国感兴趣的旅行者、做跨境生意的CEO，也有长期关注中国的媒体人和其他专业人士。对我们来说，关于中国那些真正值得讲述的故事，不仅在外媒的标题里——而在你生活的地方。

所以我们想找到你：愿意和我们一起讲故事的人。

你在的地方，就是我们的编辑部。

我们在寻找这样的你：

• 如果你生活在三线或更小的城市：你的文笔可能还不够好，也还没写过爆款文章。这都没关系。我们更在意的，是你对身边的事儿有没有好奇心，能不能看见那些别人没注意到的小变化。你只管发现故事，能够记录讲述，我们会帮助你进行润色修改。
• 如果你是大学生，或者刚毕业不久：你能用英文写作（不用完美），或者愿意锻炼提高自己的表达沟通能力。你对“外面的人怎么看我生活的地方”这件事感兴趣，也想试试用自己的方式把你的相关见闻讲给世界听。

这两个方向都没有年龄限制（除非某一期fellowship有特殊要求）。我们也欢迎学校、社区机构、地方媒体来合作，一起挖掘和培养更多‘讲中国故事’的人才。

• 在 Mandarin Unpeeled 上署名发表作品

• 一对一的编辑指导—不只帮你改稿，也会分享怎么写故事、怎么和国际媒体合作
• $150到 $400 美元的稿费（录用稿件only, 每期主题和篇幅决定具体金额）
